WHAT IS IMBRUVICA 140 MG ?
Ibrutinib is a targeted therapy. Ibrutinib inhibits the function of Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK). BTK is a key signaling molecule of the B-cell receptor signaling complex that plays an important role in the survival of malignant B cells. Ibrutinib blocks signals that stimulate malignant B cells to grow and divide uncontrollably. Ibrutinib is not a chemotherapy drug but one of what are termed "targeted therapies."
Ibrutinib is used to treat certain types of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, including mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)/small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) in people with or without 17p deletion. However, it has not been shown that ibrutinib can improve symptoms or lengthen survival time in people with this type of lymphoma.
