What is Geftinat for:
Geftinat 250 mg is an anticancer medicine, manufactured by Natco Pharma limited. It is used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. It is sometimes used in patients in which it has spread to other parts of the body, who have abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) genes, and who have not had previous treatment for cancer.
How Geftinat tablet works:
Geftinat tablet works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.
How should Geftinat be used:
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Geftinat 250 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Common side effects of Geftinat:
The most commonly reported side effects when taking Geftinat tablet include:- Nausea, Rash, Vomiting, Weakness, Loss of appetite, Dry skin, Diarrhoea, Weight loss etc.
What do you do if you miss a dose:
If you miss a dose of Geftinat 250 mg tablet, take it as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
What do you do if you overdose:
The amount of Geftinat that you will receive depends on many factors, your general health or other health problems, and the type of cancer or condition being treated. Higher doses do not give a better response and may cause increased toxicity. If you have taken more tablets than you should, talk to a doctor or pharmacist straight away.
What precautions should you take when taking Geftinat:
• Geftinat 250 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
• Geftinat is probably unsafe to use during lactation.
• Do not drive unless you are feeling well. This cancer medicine may make you feel weak. This may affect your driving ability.
• Tell your doctor if you are allergic to Geftinat or any other medicines.
• Geftinat Gefitinib Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease & liver disease.
Can you take Geftinat with other medicines:
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use.
How to Store Geftinat Tablets:
Store Gefitinib at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Geftinat out of the reach of children and away from pets.
