WHAT IS TIGECYCLINE ?
Tigecycline is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body. Tigecycline belongs to a class of drugs called tetracyclines. It works by preventing the bacteria from multiplying.
Tigecycline is used to treat various types of infections such as complicated skin and skin structure infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
severe stomach pain, diarrhea that is watery or bloody;
increased pressure inside the brain--severe headache, ringing in your ears, dizziness, nausea, vision problems, pain behind your eyes;
pancreas problems--severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate; or
liver problems--nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Common side effects may include:
nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;
abnormal liver function tests.

Store intact vials at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F); excursions are permitted between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Reconstituted solution may be stored at room temperature (not to exceed 25°C [77°F]) for up to 6 hours in the vial or up to 24 hours if further diluted in a compatible IV solution.
