WHAT IS RUXOLITINIB ?
Ruxolitinib is a targeted therapy. It is an oral receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Ruxolitinib works by blocking certain enzymes in the body that affect blood cell production. Ruxolitinib is a targeted therapy that targets and binds to the tyrosine kinase receptors and inhibits Janus Associated Kinases which mediate the signaling of a number of cytokines and growth factors that are important for hematopoiesis and immune function. By binding to these receptors, ruxolitinib blocks important pathways that promote cell division.
Ruxolitinib is used to treat myelofibrosis or polycythemia vera, which are bone marrow disorders that affect your body's ability to produce blood cells. Do not change your dose or stop ruxolitinib unless your health care provider tells you to.
